Elsa Warnick was raised in Tacoma, Washington and attended Reed College in Portland, Oregon where she earned a BA in Fine Arts with a certificate from Pacific NW College of Art. Elsa exhibited drawings and watercolors until 1984, and then began a career as a freelance illustrator on packaging, annual reports, posters, maps, cards, and conceptual series in magazines, books, and pamphlets. The watercolors produced by Elsa have a fine art feel that is not seen in most children's books but lends itself well to the subject matter. Elsa is a member of The Illustrator's Partnership of America (IPA) and the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Elsa lives in Portland, Oregon. |
